Discussion Forum on Comprehensive Sexuality Education in the Arab Region | 12/04/2013

The Youth Sexual and Reproductive Health Project (YSRHP) hosted a one day discussion forum on the implementation of comprehensive sexuality education. Local and guest regional speakers from the MENA were invited to share their experiences in light of the different socio-cultural and political systems. Differentiating between sex education, sexuality education, and sexual health education were the guiding frames of the discussions between the local civil society organizations (CSOs) and the invited speakers. The aim of the meeting was to initiate a national dialogue with local stakeholders regarding the value of a comprehensive sexuality education program as well as the opportunities and challenges of its implementation. This dialogue built on the experience of introducing the existing reproductive health and gender school curriculum in Lebanon.
