Dr. Faysal El Kak (Coordinator) | Lebanon

Dr. Faysal El Kak is a clinical Associate of ObGyn at the Women's Health Center, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) and senior lecturer at the Faculty of Health Sciences, at the American University of Beirut (AUB). He is a researcher in maternal, reproductive and sexual health and member of RCOG Women's Health Committee for MENA Region.

Dr. Lilian Ghandour | Lebanon

Dr. Lilian Ghandour is an assistant professor of epidemiology and applied biostatistics at the department of epidemiology and population health at the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS), American University of Beirut. Dr. Ghandour is the principal investigator of several internationally and nationally funded grants to examine the epidemiology of youth alcohol and nonmedical use of psychoactive prescription drugs; youth pathological gambling; youth sexual practices; and mental health disorders among children and adolescents. She is also an active member of various professional associations including Society for Epidemiological Research (SER), The College on Problems of Drug Dependence (CPDD), American Public Health Association (APHA), Lebanese Epidemiological Association (LEA), International Epidemiological Association (IEA), among others.

Dr. Lilian Ghandour

Dr. Nahla Abdel-Tawab | Egypt

Dr. Nahla Abdel-Tawab is the Country Director of the Population Council Office in Cairo. She oversees the Population Council’s research and program portfolio, sets strategic directions, and provides quality control and delivery of results. She works closely with Ministries, UN Agencies, and leading NGOs in the region to identify research initiatives and programmatic interventions that address pressing needs and issues. She provides technical and managerial leadership for the implementation and monitoring of various studies and technical assistance activities. She also supervises the scale-up of interventions, as well as the utilization of research results by policy-makers and program managers. Her areas of expertise include operations research, youth sexual and reproductive health, integrating family planning into postpartum and postabortion care, female genital mutilation/cutting, and researchers’ capacity building. Abdel-Tawab holds a medical degree from Cairo University and a Doctorate in public health from Johns Hopkins University.

Dr. Elham Atalla | Bahrain

Dr. Elham Atalla, the first qualified Bahraini clinical sexologist, is a consultant family physician/clinical sexologist and senior lecturer, RCSI-Bahrain. She is also a member of WHO “Revision of ICD-10” Working Group on the Classification of Sexual Disorders and Sexual Health and the WHO working group on “Sexuality counseling guidelines for health care providers”. She has a Master degree in Sexology and a postgraduate Diploma in Sexology both from Curtin University, Perth, Australia. She is a Consultant Family Physician & Clinical Sexologist, academically qualified and specially trained in managing all kinds of sexual difficulties.

Dr. Elham Atalla

Dr. Mona Reda | Egypt/Canada

Dr. Mona Reda is a professor of psychiatry, at Ain Shams University. She graduated from the faculty of medicine at Ain Shams University in Cairo and obtained her master degree in Neuroscience followed by an MD in Psychiatry. Her area of interest is sexual medicine. She has received training in Oxford University by the European Society for Sexual Medicine (ESSM), and has contributed in establishing the Middle East Society for Sexual Medicine (EMSSM).She was Middle East Medical Liaison for Pfizer Pharmaceutical Company and participated in several national and international conferences. Dr. Reda has published more than 10 clinical research papers in national and international journals.

Ms. Safa Tamish | Palestine

Ms. Safa Tamish is a sex educator; She has a master’s degree in sexuality from New York University and is the director of Muntada “Al-Jensaneya”, a community based Arab forum on sexuality, education and health founded in 2000, and devoted to working on sexuality and sexual rights for Palestinians and educating and raising awareness on sexual relations in the Arab society. Ms. Tamish has also worked as a consultant at Ford Foundation-General Administration, and a consultant and trainer at the Arab Regional Office, as well as at the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM), where she was involved in sexual and reproductive health projects in Gaza and Jerusalem.

Dr. Mamdouh Wahba | Egypt

Dr. Mamdouh Wahba is currently the president of the Egyptian Family Health Society and consultant in Gynecology and Reproductive Health at Clinic 99, Maadi, Cairo.He graduated as a Medical doctor from Ain Shams University, Medical School (Bachelor in Surgery (MBBS), Master Degree, Obstetrics & Gynecology) and pursued his fellowship in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists, London, UK.
